Gosh! I found a booklet that was given to me back in 1970 when I started working as an apprentice electronic engineer with Telefusion Ltd. I worked at Cobden Mill in Farnworth, this was the main service centre for refurbishing televisions. In my first year I was responsible for repairing and aligning UHF Tuner units. This involved using some quite suffisticated analogue equipment such as the UHF Sweep Generator and oscilloscopes to display the response curves of the tuner units. (Analogue Heaven!)
I worked for Telefusion for almost twenty years. I moved to the Heywood base and then to Whitefield working at the TAM (Television Audio Maintenance) service centre.
Telefusion's demise came around 1987 when Visionhire took over the company and asset stripped everything, closing down most of the Telefusion stores.
An end of an era!
Had some real good times at Telefusion, lots of friends and a nice working atmosphere!

I worked for Telefusion in Tyldesley, Haydock and Preston in the 70's as a TV engineer. Had an awful area manager from Southport, but remember a great depot manger in Tyldesley called John Doran from Manchester. Happy days!
I joined Telefusion as a tv engineer at the Staniforth Rd, Sheffield service dept. We later moved to Roman Ridge Rd to much bigger premises. The service manager at Staniforth Rd and for a short time Roman Ridge Rd was Keith Ridge. Keith was later replaced by Peter Leverton when Keith was promoted to Area Office in Leeds to work alongside John Robertshaw. I was promoted to Area Service Manager and transferred to the Edlington Doncaster service dept and then later York. Looking back I thoroughly enjoyed working for Telefusion and the Sheffield workshop. Had some great nights out. Wonder where they all are now?
IM JOHN DELANEY I WORKED FOR THE ULSTER BRANCH OF TELEFUSION FROM 1974 UNTIL THE VISIONHIRE TAKEOVER IT WAS A GREAT COMPANY TO WORK FOR
I worked as a field service engineer for Telefusion and TamTechserve in York and Harrogate from the mid 70's until visionhire took them over. Very Happy days working for them.
Visionhire actually took over in late 1985 as I was on a service managers course at head office in Blackpool when the news came through. The course collapsed and everyone went home. Visionhire were terrible to work for and I stepped back down to engineer to get away from the hassle from the Visionhire managers. Granada subsequently took over Visionhire and they were great to work for until they sold us (Serviscope) for £1 to a rather dodgy guy and it went bust about ten months later.
